What does sloth actually look like in real life? It's not laziness — it's avoiding what matters while staying busy with everything else.
In this message from our Seven Deadly Sins series, we unpack why sloth is so deceptive. Most of us work hard, answer emails, and keep up with responsibilities. But we can stay productive and still be spiritually asleep. We can do a hundred things and still avoid the one thing that matters.
Key Scriptures:
Matthew 26:38 — "Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation."
Psalm 90:12 — "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom."
Key Themes:
Presence over productivity — Being busy is not the same as being awake. Sloth hides in distraction, numbing, and the habit of staying occupied so you never have to deal with what is going on inside you.
Time is numbered, not guaranteed — We drift because we assume tomorrow will look like today. When you truly understand how few Saturdays you have left with the people you love, everything shifts.
If sloth has convinced you there will always be more time, more chances, more opportunities to get serious — this message is for you.
