J. COOK

J. served as the Senior Pastor at 1C for 36 years before retiring in 2020. He began his ministry as a youth pastor while he attended Central Christian College in Moberly, Missouri. After graduating from college, he and his wife, Janie moved to Liberty, Illinois where he served as senior pastor for six years. In 1983 the Cook family came to Jacksonville for a long and fruitful ministry. J. and Janie have three children and nine grandchildren. They enjoy attending their grandchildren’s sporting activities and spending time with their family. J serves as the South Jacksonville Police department chaplain. He does occasional supply preaching for area churches. The Cooks enjoy travel and one of J’s favorite pastimes is taking backroads to capture pictures of Americana in pictures of old barns and buildings.
