Statement of Faith: What We Believe
*
We aim for a shared understanding of the core aspects of our faith, recognizing that complete agreement on every detail is not necessary. While there is room for differing views on many topics, we request that all leaders and teachers at 1C respect the following principles and avoid using their position to promote alternative perspectives. Unity in our church relies on harmony and mutual trust in our leadership.
An incomplete understanding or disagreement with the following key beliefs does not disqualify one from serving but may require further discussion. If you disagree with any of the following, please provide your thoughts in the comment section at the bottom.
About God: We believe that God is the Creator of our world, the Sustainer, and the guiding force in our lives. He seeks to establish a loving relationship, known as a covenant, with His people.

About Jesus:
*
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only living Son of God and our Savior. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, God offers abundant and eternal life to all who call on Christ's name.

About the Bible:
*
We believe the Bible is the inspired written Word of God, serving as the authoritative guide for faith and practice for Christians and the Church.

Covenant:
*
We believe that Jesus instituted a new covenant with God, fulfilling and completing God's covenant with the People of Israel. Therefore, we view the Old Testament as preparatory to the New, and we embrace our relationship with God through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, rather than solely through the Law.

About Baptism:
*
We practice baptism by immersion in water, and we welcome anyone who can reasonably confess their need to follow Jesus to be baptized. There is nothing magical in the water, it does not save us. We do believe it is such an important first act of obedience that we require it for leadership. Jesus and the New Testament writers talk of its importance so much that we ask our people to show us and God that they are serious about their commitment.

5. I will practice a biblical view of sexuality (Romans 13:13; 1 Cor 6:9-10) which teaches that sexuality was a gift from God for the purposes of pleasure, procreation, and the creating of intimacy within a marriage relationship between a man and a woman (Gen 2:24). Any expression of this gift outside of God's created order is not in accordance with God's plan for sexuality.
